I’ve always wanted to have a really cute hobby. Something I’d do on a cozy November evening by the fireplace, perhaps with a warm blanket and some hot cocoa 🙂 But in my grand search for a cute hobby, I’ve never been very successful.
It usually starts off with me seeing some pretty image on tumblr and being like, “Wow I wish I did that!” and then low and behold, a new hobby of mine is born! Well sorta.
Some cute hobbies I’ve tried out in the past:
- Reading really long books with cool, eccentric names
- Baking cookies and sweets in the evening and then giving them to my friends
- Knitting, except I don’t know how to knit nor does anyone I know either, so I basically tried to teach myself by watching youtube.
- Painting landscape pictures of google image searches using my sisters old acrylic paints
I’m sure you can predict what happened to all of these hobbies over time. They all died. Okay, that’s a little harsh. I just failed at them completely. And then I’d quit at them because they were too hard to keep up with and and I grew tired of the feeling of failing.
But to be completely honest, I think they all failed for the same exact reason. I was trying too much to have a hobby that seemed cute that I forgot the entire purpose of having a hobby. To do something you love and are genuinely interested in.
Like for example, I don’t know if you know this, but Aria absolutely adores to read. She’s a book fanatic and can read up to 5 books a week! To me, and probably many others, reading that many books in just 7 days seems like a lot of effort, but to Aria, that effort comes as easy. I’ve always wanted to be a big reader, who loves to end their day with going to bed with my head in a book, but that just isn’t who I am. I have to actually put in a conscious effort to pick up that book, read each line and flip each page. I have to tell myself “Okay Johanna, you’re going to read at least 30 pages tonight” But for Aria, it just isn’t like that. It’s not a commitment, it’s something that she can’t help herself from doing.
But recently, I think that I’ve finally discovered a cute hobby I can actually keep.
Listening to feel good songs.
Feel good songs to me are as wonderful to listen to on my morning commute as a book before bed is to others. Music is something I’ve always loved and feel good songs are practically one of my favourite things in life. They just have a way of making me feel so happy and content with myself and never fail to leave a warm fuzzy feeling in my stomach. So today, I’ve compiled a list of my favourite feel good songs. I hope you enjoy.
PS. Aria let me know if you want me to make a mixtape of this for you 😉
